Hourglass

You have boobs and bum with a defined waist. The main thing you want to concentrate on is defining your waist. 2 pieces/separates, A-line and sheath dresses flatter your shape. But to really show of your curves choose a figure hugging bodices or a mermaid style.

You want to avoid adding weight to either your top or bottom half, so stay clear of empire dresses and ball gowns.

Triangle/Inverted Triangle

You have broad shoulder and narrower hips. Balance your bottom half with more full skirts and draw the eye downwards with details on the waist or skirt. Create the illusion of narrower shoulder with V necks, scoop necks and thick straps or sleeves.

You have hips that are wider than your shoulders. Disguise bigger hips with full skirts such as a ball or princess gown or with fuller skirt A-line gowns. Empire lines highlight your top half. Create the illusion of wider shoulders with off-the-shoulder, halter and one-shouldered necklines.

Avoid tiered, mermaid and sheath styles as they’ll add too much weight on your bottom half and will unbalance you.

Your waist is undefined with no curves. Create curves with ball gowns and fitted bodices. Sheath dresses will really flatter you as well and you can get away with high necklines.

Avoid anything that’s too figure hugging such as mermaid styles.

You’re 5ft 3in or under. You want to try and elongate your figure. Sheath dresses will do this for you as well as narrow A-lines. High waisted skirts and cropped tops will also help elongate you.

Usually you’d stay clear go ball gowns and mermaid styles as they can overwhelm you with fabric, however some designers now do petite ranges such as Pronovias.
